“The crying woman” was a subject that interested Picasso a lot and as a result he repeated it many times that year in a series of paintings.
The Weeping Woman series is considered a continuation of the tragedy depicted in the Guernica painting. By focusing on the image of a weeping woman, Picasso no longer painted the direct effects of the Spanish Civil War, but addressed a single universal image of suffering.
In the painting here we see a visualization and an amazing tribute to the artist.
